Honouring excellence

"Overall, I found the process to be simple, but comprehensive. I think that, by combining all the different aspects, such as the marketing piece we had to write, to the radio and video interviews, judges really had the opportunity to get to know the finalists. Even though I have been a guide for a long time, the thought of speaking on the radio and in front of a camera terrified me! But, the interviewers were great and made me feel calm and comfortable straight away. The final step, the judges' interviews were great. Again, there was no need to be nervous. It felt more like a casual chat by the time we were finished. The questions asked were great and gave a good overview of my life as a guide. I enjoyed the awards evening and was so proud to be a part of it. It may only have been for the NMB area, but, this is where I work mostly and is the place I always promote, so to be named the winner was a great honour for me. It was the culmination of so many years of hard work and has inspired me to keep going for as long as I am able. A great experience all round and something that I will cherish for the rest of my life."
